About Deal
Deal is two towns for concrete purposes: a Georgian conservation core of narrow one-way streets and small courtyard pours, and a ring of twentieth-century estates behind it where an ordinary delivery works. Kent Readymix arranges ready-mix concrete across both, and which half you are in decides the vehicle before anything else.
Deal’s two halves
The seafront and the Middle Street conservation area are Georgian, tightly built and largely listed. Concrete work there is small and awkward: courtyard slabs, small garden pours, floor work inside period buildings, base work for outbuildings squeezed behind a frontage.
Behind that, the estates at Sholden and Mongeham and the former colliery housing at Mill Hill are completely different. Plots are larger, roads are wider, and the work is standard domestic footings, driveways, garage bases and garden slabs.
Georgian streets, and a frontage with no vehicle access at all
In the conservation core the streets are narrow, several are one-way, and conservation-area constraints limit where a vehicle can stand and what it can occupy. The seafront adds a hard limit of its own: the frontage is shingle, and there is no vehicular access on the beach side. Nothing approaches a pour from that direction.
So a central Deal job is usually a mini-mix job, or a full delivery discharged from a permitted standing position with a barrow run or a line pump covering the last part. On the estates none of that applies and a standard delivery is normally the right answer, which is why it is worth saying which part of Deal you are in when you first make contact.
