About Faversham
Faversham changes character within a mile. In the town the concrete goes into medieval and Georgian property and creek-side yards on streets that were never built for lorries. A mile out it goes into fruit-farm work on orchard tracks. Kent Readymix arranges ready-mix concrete across both, and they are not the same access problem.
From the market place to the orchards
Around the market place and Abbey Street the building stock is medieval and Georgian, much of it listed. Concrete work is small and internal: floor pours, small bases, repairs and reinstatement behind protected frontages. On the creek there are working yards and industrial units, where the pours are larger and the ground is used to plant.
Beyond the town the work is agricultural. Fruit farms generate hardstandings, machinery bases, building floors, gateway repairs and track work, and those jobs come with their own seasonal rhythm.
Two access problems a mile apart
In the town, the streets are narrow, the loading restrictions are real, and the standing time a vehicle is allowed is short. That points at mini-mix, at a booked window, and at doing the pour in a single planned session rather than opening the job up and hoping.
On the orchard side the constraint reverses. There is space, but the surface is a farm track rather than a road, and a fully loaded mixer on soft or rutted ground is a recovery job waiting to happen. The right question there is where the last hard standing is, and whether the concrete travels the final stretch by chute, by pump or by dumper.
Ask those two questions the right way round for your half of Faversham and most of the delivery risk disappears.
