The Victorian terraces generate small, uncertain pours: rear garden bases on ground that has settled unevenly, footings against an old party wall, void and step make-up, and oversite whose depth changes across a narrow plot. The interwar semis produce the slightly larger version with the same uncertainty.

On the eastern side the wharf and riverside premises produce industrial uncertainty instead: void filling, levelling across a yard, and make-up under a hardstanding where the old surface has come out. The wharf side gives it all three without discussion. Roads are wide, built for articulated traffic, and there is room to position clear of anything.

The older centre and the streets dropping towards the canal basin and the pier give it none of them. The one-way system commits a large vehicle to a route, standing is limited and turning is worse, and a volumetric lorry is not a vehicle you want to discover that with. On that side the honest answers are mini-mix for a small uncertain pour, or a volumetric vehicle held on a wider road with the concrete pumped in.
