The Regency and early Victorian cliff-top terraces and crescents give Ramsgate an unusual slab profile. The specific fact here is a void. Where a terrace has a basement area at the front, there is an open gap between the kerb and the building, usually with railings across it. A barrow has to go round it, which on a cliff-top crescent may mean a long way round or through the property.

That makes Ramsgate one of the clearest pumping cases in Kent for domestic slab work. A line pump crosses the void, goes over the railings and puts the concrete onto the slab, and it keeps the pour continuous, which matters on a floor slab that has to act as one element.

Gradient is the second layer. The ramps down to the Royal Harbour are steep and the crescents are narrow, so the standing position has to be assessed for slope as well as for width and parking before anything is booked.
