Concrete for footings and foundations in Folkestone

Folkestone is the only coastal town we cover with a modern development attached to it, so its foundation work runs at two completely different scales in the same postcode. Kent Readymix arranges ready-mix concrete for footings and foundations across Folkestone, matched to which of the two you are on.

New-build trenches and old-town footings

On the former Shorncliffe garrison land the foundation work is new-build: strip footings and trench fill for houses, garages and outbuildings, poured on plots with construction access, a sequenced programme and drawings that name the designation.

Above the Leas and behind the harbour the same service means something else entirely. Period buildings under conversion need small footings for new structural openings, base work for outbuildings squeezed behind a frontage, and support work where a layout is changing. The volumes are small, the access is not, and almost none of it arrives with a drawing.

Where a trench sits beyond the last road

The descent from the cliff top to the harbour zig-zags on roads laid out for a very different traffic, and in the creative quarter some lanes are stepped and cobbled. A stepped lane is not a narrow road, it is a route no vehicle enters at any size, and a trench beyond one has to be fed by hose or by barrow.

That sets the pattern for old Folkestone. A mini-mix vehicle gets as close as the road allows, and a line pump covers the last stretch. Because a trench that has stood open takes more than the drawing says, it is worth agreeing what happens if the pour needs a second load before the first is finished, rather than finding out with a hose already run.

On the Shorncliffe land none of that applies. A full mixer reaches the trench, and on a sequenced foundation programme the useful conversation is delivery pattern rather than access.

Arranging a Folkestone foundation pour

Say which part of town the trench is in, whether the approach involves steps, and give the dimensions and the agreed depth. Your quotation, delivery and payment are agreed directly with the approved supplier appointed to your pour.

Send the detail to hello@kentreadymix.co.uk and an approved supplier will confirm the mix, the volume and the delivery window.
