Ready-mix concrete for slabs in Dover
If the slab sits above or below the only place a vehicle can safely stand, the volume stops being the deciding number in Dover and the gradient takes over. Kent Readymix arranges ready-mix concrete for slabs across Dover, where the slope on the approach is assessed before the mix or the quantity is settled.

Port slabs on the flat, garden slabs on the hill
Around the harbour and the roads feeding it, the slab work is commercial: yard slabs, hardstandings, unit oversite and plant bases on ground that is flat and was built for heavy vehicles. Those pours are larger, and access is the least of the problem.
Up at Buckland, Tower Hamlets and the slopes towards the Western Heights the picture inverts. The slabs are small and the ground falls away: rear garden bases, steps and landing slabs, small garage and store bases, and the oversite under a modest extension. Terraced plots on a hillside rarely give you a level place to work from.
What a gradient does to a slab discharge
A chute is a fixed arm that runs concrete off the back of a mixer under gravity, and gravity is exactly what a Dover slope changes. If the slab is below the vehicle, concrete arrives faster than it can be spread and levelled. If it is above, the chute does not reach it at all and the material has to be lifted rather than dropped.
Underneath that is the standing question. A fully loaded mixer holding a slope behaves differently from one standing level, and the position has to be assessed rather than assumed, especially on a narrow terraced street where there is only one place it could stand anyway.
That is why concrete pumping does more work on Dover slabs than the volumes alone would justify. A pump moves concrete vertically as well as horizontally, so the vehicle stands where it is safe and the slab gets fed at a rate the people finishing it can keep up with.
What to send us for a Dover slab
Give the slab size and depth, and describe the slope: where a vehicle could stand, and whether the slab is uphill or downhill from it. Your quotation, delivery and payment are agreed directly with the approved supplier appointed to your pour.
Send the detail to hello@kentreadymix.co.uk and an approved supplier will confirm the mix, the volume and the delivery window.
