Concrete work at the port and on the hills
Dover’s commercial work is port and port-related: industrial units, yards, hardstandings and floors on and around the harbour and the roads that feed it. Those pours are larger, and the ground around them is generally flat and built for heavy vehicles.

Gradient decides what can be sent

Second, the pour is very often above or below the vehicle, which means gravity is either doing the job for you or working against you, and a chute that reaches on paper may not reach in practice.
That combination is why concrete pumping does more work in Dover than in most of Kent. A pump moves concrete vertically as well as horizontally, and it lets the vehicle stand where it is safe rather than where the pour happens to be.
