This district covers a stretch of Channel coast and then the whole of Romney Marsh behind it, which makes it the most exposed area we work in. Folkestone brings tall clifftop Victorian and Edwardian terraces with parapets and concealed gutters, where the critical part of the roof is invisible from the ground and access is a serious part of any job. Hythe adds a steep medieval and Georgian old town on the hill above a flat seafront. South and west of that, the marsh is open, low-lying and almost entirely without shelter, so wind uplift at ridges, verges and eaves is the defining concern for property around New Romney, Dymchurch and Lydd.
